September 11th, 2020 by Ric Hanson

The Atlantic Municipal Airport is the site this Sunday (Sept. 13th), for “Run what ya brung” drag races. All types of racing vehicles are welcome. The fee for drivers is 20-dollars, while the fee for spectators is just five-dollars. Jamie Joyce is one of the organizer’s for Sunday’s 4th Annual event. He says the event has a strong following, and draws people from a wide area.

One of the attractions is a very loud, top alcohol-fueled, 3,000-horsepower dragster.

There will not be any bleachers on the site for spectators, due to social distancing, but you are welcome to bring your lawn chairs to the Mahle parking lot. There, you’ll be picked-up by a SWITA shuttle bus and transported to the airport.

There’s also going to be a Harley Davidson motorcycle that participates in the Summit Racing NHRA circuit, where the racer has been the points leader for two-years in a row. Food vendors will be on-site.
