Motorcycle chase ends in a fatal crash Saturday afternoon

The pursuit of a motorcycle Saturday afternoon in Dallas County, ended with the deaths of two people from Waukee. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened near Interstate 80, east of Earlham. The motorcycle operator, 36-year old Thomas F. Kennedy and his 36-year old passenger, Rachel L. Glissman, both of Waukee, died at the scene after  trying to outrun a Dallas County Sheriff’s Deputy.

Authorities say the deputy had terminated the chase a just before the crash happened at about 5:15-p.m. on 360th Street (County Road F90), just south of 360th Place. The report said the motorcyclists apparently continued to operate at a high rate of speed following the pursuit and lost control of the vehicle on a curve of 360th Street. The cycle left the roadway and went into the ditch, where it came to rest.

Neither of the motorcycle occupants was wearing a helmet. Agencies responded to and assisting at the scene, included: Earlham First Responders and Earlham Volunteer Fire Department; Van Meter First Responders and Van Meter Volunteer Fire Department; The Dallas and Madison County Sheriff’s offices, and Dallas County EMS.
