(Updated 1:00-p.m.) The State of Iowa’s Coronavirus website (The COVID-19 Dashboard) today (Thursday), indicated 21 more deaths have been associated with the virus, for a total of 1,081. Officials say 582 people who died at a Long Term Care Facility (LTC), are included in the total. The number of deaths associated with a person with pre-existing conditions amount to 757.

The IDPH says there are 4 new, positive COVID-19 cases in Cass County, for a total of 111.

The Iowa Department of Public Health today (Thursday) reported 1,473 new positive coronavirus cases, for a total of 59,688. Of those, 45,402 persons have recovered since the pandemic began. IDPH data shows more than 616,279 Iowans have been tested for COVID-19. Officials report 305 Iowans are currently hospitalized with coronavirus, compared to 313 on Wednesday. There are 99 patients in intensive care (there were 102, Wednesday). New hospital admissions amount to 36 (there were 49, Wednesday), and there were 44 patients on ventilators across the state.

In western/southwest Iowa: 6 people were hospitalized (2 less than on Wednesday); 4 are in an ICU. There were no new admissions, and one person was on a ventilator.

Health officials say 36 long-term care facilities in Iowa have COVID-19 outbreaks. IDPH reports 1,118 positive cases and 670 recoveries are associated with those facilities.

Here are the latest positive case numbers for southwest/western Iowa from 10-a.m. Friday to 10-a.m. Saturday (County; Positive Case #’s; number of persons who have (recovered); {deaths since the outbreak began}. Counties with changes have highlighted numbers over the previous 24-hours:

  • Cass County: 111 cases; (98); 2 deaths
  • Adair County: 46 cases; (20); 1 death
  • Adams County: 20 cases; (17)
  • Audubon County: 36 cases; (27); 1 death
  • Guthrie County: 163 cases; (124); 5 deaths
  • Montgomery County: 71 cases; (59); 4 deaths
  • Pottawattamie County: 1,563 cases; (1,275); 34 deaths
  • Shelby County: 211 cases; (198); 1 death.
