IRVING, Texas – Iowa State sophomore Ashley Joens claimed her sixth Big 12 Player of the Week honor of her career, the league announced Monday. Joens has claimed more Big 12 weekly honors than anyone in the league this season, as nobody has captured more than two.

Joens was key in Iowa State’s two victories on the week. Her signature game came on Sunday as she scored a game-high 15 points, including the final three points down the stretch as Iowa State ended No. 2 Baylor’s 58-game conference win streak, 57-56. Joens scored a layup to put ISU up 56-53, a bucket that would give her her 1,000th career point, making her the first sophomore in Iowa State history to achieve the milestone.

Iowa State ended its Big 12 road slate on Tuesday with a commanding 61-42 win at KU. Joens recorded her fifth-straight double-double with 10 points and tied her career-high with 20 rebounds.

Joens’ six Big 12 Player of the Week honors, ties Bridget Carleton’s six weekly honors last season.

Joens and the Cyclones head to Kansas City to kick off the Big 12 Championship as the No. 4 seed against Kansas State at 11 a.m. on FSN.
