Trojans show stronger fight, but still fall short against Harlan

For the second Monday night in a row the Harlan Cyclones boys basketball team picked up a win over the Atlantic Trojans. This time the Trojans played much tougher but the Cyclones pulled away in the fourth quarter to win 57-40.

Harlan was up 29-12 at the half but Atlantic found some offense in the third quarter. Dayton Templeton scored 10 of his 15 points in the period and the Trojans got as close as 38-32. Harlan then finished the quarter on a 6-0 run and got the first hoop of the fourth to take back control.

Connor Bruck had a strong night for the Cyclones with 19 points. He went 9-11 at the free throw line in the second half to help seal the Cyclone win. Michael Heithoff added 13 as Harlan improved to 15-5 on the season. They play host to Carroll on Thursday night to wrap up the regular season.

Atlantic falls to 8-12 on the season and they will finish the regular season schedule at Denison on Thursday.

The Trojans and Cyclones will meet again next Monday night in the Class 3A Substate 8 Semifinals. That game will be played at Glenwood and will be the second game of the night at 8:00 p.m. Glenwood will face Greene County in the first game at 6:30 p.m. that night.
