Johnson and West lead Red Oak past Atlantic girls

Chloe Johnson finished with 17 points and Allie West added 15 as the Red Oak Tigers defeated the Atlantic Trojans 66-31 on Friday night. The Tigers jumped on top by 7 at the end of the first quarter 14-7 and then pushed the lead to 31-14 by halftime. The Tigers were on top 51-26 by the end of the third as they continued to push away from an Atlantic squad that never got settled in.

Red Oak improved to 15-3 with the win and they will next up travel to Creston on Friday.

Atlantic got 10 points from Taylor McCreedy and 6 from Maycie Waters on the night. Leading scorer Haley Rasmussen was limited to just 2 points in the contest. The Trojans struggled to find their shooting stroke all night. Atlantic has now dropped 4 straight and fell to 8-11 on the season. The Trojans host Denison-Schleswig on Friday. It will be Senior night and it will be the annual Coaches vs Cancer pink out game to support the American Cancer Society.
