(Radio Iowa) — Investigators have released the names of the people involved in a shooting by a Clive police officer. Des Moines police are investigating and say a Clive officer tried to stop a vehicle which eventually crashed on a freeway exit in Des Moines. The report says Clive officer Nicholas Hershel-Anderson shot 26-year-old Meamen Nyah of Des Moines — after Nyah showed a weapon and refused to drop it.

Nyah remains in the hospital. Nyah is on federal supervised release after pleading guilty to using a controlled substance while in possession of a gun. Another person in the car who fled — 27-year-old William Carr of Des Moines — was caught by a police dog. Carr had active Des Moines warrants for domestic violence. Two guns were recovered at the scene and Des Moines police say they are continuing to interview witnesses.
