Here is the latest Mid-America sports news from The Associated Press

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Joseph Yesufu had 16 points off the bench to carry Drake to a 98-53 win over Division III opponent Simpson (Iowa). Jonah Jackson had 14 points for Drake (3-1).

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s basketball team’s first road contest of the season didn’t go as planned. Northern Iowa improved to 4-0 and handed the Hawkeyes their first loss of the season with an 88-66 victory Sunday afternoon at the McLeod Center.  The Panthers never trailed. UNI shot better than 50 percent from the field — 52.5 percent for the game — made 10 3-pointers and got 52 points of production from its bench.  Iowa shot 35.4 percent and went just 5-of-16 from 3-point range.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium is looking to put its best face forward when it hosts a regular-season NFL matchup tonight (Monday night) between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers. Officials are hoping for redemption after last season’s game had to be moved to the L.A. Coliseum, a black eye for the arena and the league. Poor field conditions forced the last-minute change. The hybrid turf has since been swapped out for natural grass, and fewer events have been scheduled for the stadium.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Destiny Slocum ignited a third quarter run and scored all 17 of her points in the second half, leading No. 7 Oregon State to an 80-69 victory over Missouri State in the championship game of the Preseason WNIT. Slocum’s 3-pointer at third-quarter buzzer capped a 13-0 run for a 55-49 lead and Oregon State went on to end the nation’s longest road winning streak at 13 games.
