Significant Weather Advisory until 7:15-a.m., for Pottawattamie, Harrison & Shelby Counties

At 610 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Arlington (NE) to near Avoca (IA). Movement was northeast at 20 mph.

Pea size hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include…
Northern Omaha, northeastern Council Bluffs, Fremont, Blair, Harlan, Missouri Valley, Valley, Logan, Oakland, Avoca, Arlington, Underwood, Fort Calhoun, Walnut, Shelby, Minden, Kennard, Inglewood, Persia and Modale.

This includes the following highways…
Interstate 29 between mile markers 58 and 84.
Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 11 and 48.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
