The Fremont-Mills Knights scored on the second play of the game and kept hitting on big plays to race away from Exira-EHK in a 50-2 win Friday night in Tabor. Knights running back Seth Malcom scored the first three touchdowns of the game, as the Spartans squandered two early scoring chances.

The Spartans drove the ball inside the ten yard line twice in the first quarter and came up empty both times. The first ended on an interception by Fremont-Mills Defensive Back Colton Hauschild. The second time the Spartans pushed themselves back with a couple of procedure penalties and ended up turning it over on downs.

The Knights led 44-0 by halftime and would tack on one last score in the second half. The Spartans’ 2 points came off a Fremont-Mills mistake on the first drive of the second half. A bad snap went over the head of Knights QB Colton Hauschild and he fell on it in the endzone, resulting in the safety.

Exira-EHK Head Coach Tom Petersen said he was disappointed with the effort and the execution. He said he knows the Spartans are a much better team then they showed on Friday night and they are ready to get back to work to host Sidney next week. Fremont-Mills travels to face the Audubon Wheelers next week.
