IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Iowa has placed women’s volleyball coach Bond Shymansky on paid administrative leave for 30 days for what it says was an unspecified violation of NCAA rules. The Hawkeyes say they notified the NCAA and an investigation is ongoing. Iowa went 15-16 under Shymansky in 2018, his fifth season in charge of the Hawkeyes.

UNDATED (AP) — Automatic bids for the NCAA Tournament are on the line in 25 conference tournaments this week. The top seeds are Louisville in the Atlantic Coast Conference, Indiana in the Big Ten, Texas Tech in the Big 12 and Vanderbilt in the Southeastern Conference. The 16 NCAA regional hosts will be named Sunday and the rest of the 64-team field will be announced next Monday.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — The Blues are within one win of their first Stanley Cup Final since 1970 and Vladimir Tarasenko and Jaden Schwartz have played huge roles. Tarasenko has come up with more big assists than goals against the Sharks. Meanwhile, Schwartz has found a scoring touch that eluded him during the regular season.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — The San Jose Sharks could be headed into their fifth elimination game of the postseason short-handed. The Sharks left town to play Game 6 of the Western Conference final at St. Louis with questions about the status of captain Joe Pavelski, high-scoring forward Tomas Hertl and playmaking defenseman Erik Karlsson. Coach Peter DeBoer gave no update on their conditions and didn’t say whether any of the three made the trip to St. Louis.
