Uncasville, Conn. – Former Iowa State women’s basketball guard Bridget Carleton secured a roster spot with the Connecticut Sun on Thursday, the team announced. Carleton was drafted 21^st overall by the Sun and becomes the first Cyclone to make an opening day roster since Alison Lacey in 2010.

Carleton was named to every All-America list in women’s college basketball for her efforts during the 2018-19 season with the Cyclones. She was also named the Cheryl Miller Award winner, which honors the nation’s best small forward. As a result, she was earned a spot on the prestigious Naismith Starting Five.

She concluded her career with the Cyclones just eight points shy of breaking ISU’s all-time scoring mark with 2,142 points. Carleton also ranks in the top-five in Iowa State’s record book in career field goals (3^rd, 713), steals (3^rd, 211), blocked shots (3^rd, 124) and 3-pointers (5^th, 255). She also put together the best single-season in school history setting school records for points scored (760), scoring average (21.7 PPG).

Carleton and the Sun officially begin the regular season on Saturday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m. against the Washington Mystics at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Cyclone fans can catch Saturday’s game on League Pass.
