The CAM Cougars girls basketball team will compete for a trip to the State Tournament tonight when they face the Colo-Nesco Royals in the Class 1A Region 7 Final. The Cougars and Royals will play at West Des Moines Valley high school with a 7:00pm tip-off and we’ll have coverage on KJAN.

The Cougars have made it to the Regional Final by earning wins over the Audubon Wheelers 73-67 and the Fremont-Mills Knights 66-23. The Cougars have been led on the season by a strong group of seniors. Madison Gettler has been terrific, averaging 19.8 points and 7 rebounds per game. Paige McAfee has poured in 13 points per outing and has been great from beyond the arc so far this postseason. Sammi Jahde and Zoey Baylor have averaged 8 points per game and Macy Ticknor is right behind with 7 per outing.

Colo-Nesco made their way to the Regional Final with wins over Paton-Churdan 61-50 and Collins-Maxwell 42-40. The Royals got a late steal and bucket to pull off that Semifinal win. The Royals are led by 13.4 points per game from Faith Vincent and 11.6 per outing from Rylee Purvis. Lauryn Hill and Emma Stalzer are both averaging near 8 points per game as well.

CAM Head Coach Joe Wollum said after the win on Friday that they are excited for the opportunity.
