Carleton earns spot on Wooden Award Midseason List

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior guard Bridget Carleton was named to the 2018-19 Wooden Award Midseason List. Carleton is one of just 25 student-athletes across the country to earn a spot on the midseason list for the Wooden Award, which honors the nation’s top player.

Carleton is leading Iowa State and the Big 12 with 19.9 points per game, 8.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists. She is also averaging 2.2 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. Carleton currently ranks seventh in school history in scoring with 1,681 career points. Last season, Carleton garnered AP All-America honorable mention honors along with her second-straight stint as a unanimous First-Team All-Big 12 selection. Carleton has also claimed a league-leading three Big 12 Player of the Week honors.

The Chatham, Ontario, Canada native has led the Cyclones to a 13-2 overall record and 3-0 start to Big 12 play. In Iowa State’s first three conference games, Carleton is averaging 27.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists, while shooting 54.9 percent from the floor. They Cyclones are also ranked in the AP top-25 for the first year since 2013-14, holding strong at No. 20 in the nation.

The Wooden Award watch lists are published throughout the season. Players not on the current list are eligible for inclusion in later lists.

Carleton and the Cyclones will return to the court on Saturday at 4 p.m. when they take on No. 11 Texas.
