Trojan LogoThe Atlantic Trojans football team will travel to Jefferson on Friday evening for a meeting with the Greene County Rams. The Trojans (2-4, 0-2) are coming in to the game on a three game losing streak, including back to back loses at home to open up district play. The Trojans have struggled to get consistent offensive production and haven’t prevented big plays from the opposing offenses during the losing skid. Atlantic Head Coach Mike McDermott said his team will need to get hit some big plays of their own this week against the Rams.

When it comes to slowing down the Rams balanced offense, Coach McDermott said they will need to stop the run first.

Greene County (5-1, 1-1) lost their first game of the season last week in a tight game against Kuemper Catholic. Rams Head Coach Mitch Moore said a key for his team this week will be to contain Atlantic quarterback Chase Mullenix.

The Rams have been able to achieve some great balance on offense with quarterback Brent Riley throwing for 1,266 yards and running backs Clint Dennhardt and Colby Kafer combining for 955 yards on the ground. Coach Moore said he thinks what stands out from the Atlantic defense is how hard they play but he thinks his team needs to just worry about doing their job to have offensive success.

The Trojans and Rams have moved their scheduled kickoff up to 5:00pm with the anticipation of severe weather possible Friday night. The freshman game has been canceled.
