NE woman killed, two adults & 2 kids injured in Mills Co. crash

One person died and four other were injured during a crash in Mills County, Sunday evening. The Iowa State Patrol reports a 2017 Honda Accord driven by 51-year old Heather Johnson, of Omaha, was traveling west on Barrus Road at around 5:55-p.m., at the same time a 2018 Chevy Silverado, driven by 34-year old Ronnie Russell Ling, of Glenwood, was traveling south on 221st Street.

When the Accord ran through a stop sign, it was hit broadside by the pickup. Both vehicles came to rest upright in a field west of the intersection. 33-year old Iris Gandara, of Omaha, died at the scene. Heather Johnson was transported by LifeNet to the UNMC in Omaha.

Passengers injured included: 27-year old Mariana Nieto, of Omaha, who was transported to Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs; 50-year old Marvin Ray Elmquist, of Sarasota, FL, who was flown by LifeNet to the UNMC; 10-year old Austin Ling, of Glenwood, who was transported by Silver City EMS to the UNMC, and six-year old Adam Ling, of Glenwood, who was transported by Lewis Township EMS to the UNMC.
