Officials with the Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce have proclaimed this past weekend’s AtlanticFest a success. Saturday’s event was sponsored by First Whitney Bank & Trust. The community wide celebration had something for everyone and brought the entire community together. The annual festival also serves as a fundraiser for the Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce.

Bailey Smith, Executive Director at the Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce said “AtlanticFest 2018 was another great success and we have received an overwhelming amount of positive comments from business owners, volunteers, participants and vendors. Events like this one are successful when generous sponsors, dedicated volunteers and the overall community come together to show their support. First Whitney Bank is a great partner to have to continue making AtlanticFest successful year after year.”

The annual Road Race kicked off AtlanticFest with 121 racers, filling west 6th Street. HyVee provided free fruit and ATI Physical Therapy provided free pre- and post-race stretching. The overall winners included Craig Becker and Jazzy Dagel in the two-mile race, Jalen Petersen and Taylor McCreedy in the five-mile race, and Laney Brosam was our fastest two-mile walker for the day. Crafters filled west 5th Street, bringing in a great crowd. This year, 35 crafters took part in AtlanticFest, bringing a variety of items for community members to enjoy. Food vendors also filled City Park and were placed throughout Chestnut Street.

Olsen’s Outdoor Power and Plastic Professionals were the presenting sponsors of the Motorcycle Show and was coordinated by Michael Magers and Kolby Hansen. 45 bikes entered the show, bringing a great variety of motorcycles to town for enthusiasts to enjoy.
