Numerous arrests in Pottawattamie County

The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office reports several people were arrested Friday through Sunday. At around 4:20-p.m. Sunday, 73-year old Larry Allen Engel, of Avoca, was arrested in Pott. County for OWI/1st offense, following an accident at the Avoca Fairgrounds. 20-year old Jose’ Ignacio Pocasangre-Menjivar, and 18-year old Dylan Armando Jaimes, both of Denison, were arrested at around 4:20-a.m., Sunday in Pott. County, for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They were taken into custody after a Pott. County Deputy assisted Cass County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh McLaren with a traffic stop on I-80, near mile marker 44.  Deputies found 2.3-grams of marijuana, a marijuana pipe and grinder in the vehicle.

A man from Waterloo was arrested following a traffic stop on a vehicle near Minden, on I-80, Saturday afternoon. 36-year old Justin Anious Jones, a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested for Violation of an Order/contempt of court, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Authorities seized 344.9-grams of a green leafy substance in a container, THC suckers, and THC oil. He was also charged with Child Endangerment. 25-year old Matthew Robert Scheidle, of Council Bluffs, was arrested Saturday night, for OWI/1st offense. He was taken into custody following an ATV accident in the 16,000 block of 275th Street.

A little after 7-a.m., Saturday, a Pott. County Deputy was dispatched to a reported residential alarm in the 24,000 block of Richland Loop. He arrested 51-year old Jeffrey Gene Pierson, of Council Bluffs, for Possession of a Controlled Substance/Marijuana. He recovered drug paraphernalia and 70.3 grams of pot in a plastic container. Saturday afternoon, 29-year old Brett Frederick Mohr, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested after an incident in Treynor late Saturday morning. Authorities say Sgt. Marc Freeman made contact with Mohr at the Casey’s gas station, after Mohr was seen driving without a seat belt. Mohr took off at a high rate of speed but was later apprehended in Treynor and charged with Felony Eluding. He was also arrested on a Harrison County charge of being a Fugitive from Justice. The bond for which was $7,500.

38-year old Chad Steven Carl Rains, of Crescent was arrested late Friday evening, after a Deputy stopped his pickup. A records check indicated Rains was wanted on warrants out of Pott. County, for OWI/2nd offense, Driving while license denied, suspended, cancelled or revoked, and Failure to Maintain Control. 38-year old Brian Joe Howell, of Carter Lake, who was already being held in the Pott. County Jail, was served with a warrant Saturday morning, for Violation of Probation. He was returned to the custody of jail staff.
