The National Weather Service says strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop across much of western and central Iowa late this afternoon into this evening. The main threats will be large hail and damaging winds, although an isolated tornado or two remain possible. Localized heavy rain will also be possible into the overnight hours as the thunderstorms persists.
