The Drake men’s basketball team travels to Northern Colorado Sunday to play in the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (C-I-T). Coach Niko Medved says they were happy to get the overtime win in the first round and keep playing. He says it’s unique since they are on spring break and have been practicing, but also trying to keep things light and have some fun. Northern Colorado is playing in its first games since March 9th when the Bears fell in the Big Sky Conference Tournament semifinals.

Medved isn’t sure how that might impact them for this game. “I think most coaches would say that they would prefer not to have that much time off. It’s really hard to say how that might affect them,” Medved says. Northern Colorado comes into the game at 22-12 and Medved says there’s one thing they have in common.”Both teams are pretty small. They have in may opinion one of the best backcourts that we’ve played this season,” Medved says.

He says Drake is enjoying being the only Big Four men’s program still playing. Medved says they weren’t really expected to have the season that they have had so, it is probably been good for them to get the spotlight to themselves.

Drake heads into the game at 17-16 after the 80-73 overtime victory against Abiliene Christian in the first round of the C-I-T. The Bulldogs and Bears have never played before. Tipp off is 4 p-m.
