Underwood senior wrestler Alex Thomsen received a couple of different top honors on Thursday after picking up his 4th State Championship last weekend.

Thomsen was named the Co-Most Valuable Wresler for 2018 by IAwrestle along with Brody Teske of Fort Dodge. Thomsen also was name the Class 1A Dan Gable Wrestler of the Year by The Predicament.

Thomsen finished his career with a 190-1 record and four state titles. He won at 113 pounds his freshman season and then won the title at 126 the final 3 seasons.

Other honorees for the Dan Gable Wrestler of the Year Award were Michael Blockhus of New Hampton in Class 2A and Brody Teske of Fort Dodge in 3A.
