CAM sweeps hoops doubleheader from West Central Valley

The CAM Cougars took two wins in a road basketball doubleheader at West Central Valley on Thursday night.

In the girls game the Cougars raced out to an early 17-6 lead and controlled the lead throughout. CAM got a big night from both Madison Gettler and Paige McAfee. Gettler finished with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals. McAfee had 18 points and 6 rebounds. The Cougars improved to 13-4 with the win. West Central Valley was led by 14 points from Kennedy Lose and they fall to 7-10 on the season.

The boys game turned into a tight battle. CAM had an early 8 point lead but West Central Valley hit a pair of late threes in the first half to tie the game at 31 by the break. CAM was able to grab a three point lead by the end of the third quarter and then only led by one early in the fourth quarter. They then used a 10-2 run to secure a lead that they would hang onto for the win. Thomas Hensley overcame a slow shooting start and was very effective playing along the baseline in the second half. He finished with 33 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 steals. Nic Holste dropped in 26 points and grabbed 5 rebounds for the Cougars. CAM improves to 11-4. West Central Valley’s leading scorer was Kaleb Badker with 19 points. The Wildcats are now 2-15.
