Wind Advisory Update (12/4)

Weather

December 4th, 2017 by Ric Hanson

A Wind Advisory is in effect from 3-p.m. today until 3-a.m. Tuesday for the following counties in the KJAN listening area:  Cass-Crawford-Carroll-Audubon-Guthrie-Dallas, and from 11-a.m. today until 8-p.m., for Monona-Harrison-Shelby-Pottawattamie and Mills.

Sustained northwest winds at 30 to 40 mph with gusts of 45 to 50 mph can be expected. Winds will diminish slightly toward daybreak but still remain fairly strong with gusts of 35 to 40 mph into Tuesday.

Travel may be hazardous, especially for high profile vehicles. Lightweight unsecured objects will be blown around. Be sure to secure holiday decorations. Although any accumulations would be less than an inch, the wind may also combine with a brief period of snow north during the early evening hours to further increase travel hazardous, mainly due to low visibilities more so than slick roads.
