The 2017 NFL draft wrapped up over the weekend and 4 former Iowa Hawkeyes heard their name called along with one Drake Bulldog.  A number of players from the state also sign Undrafted Free Agent contracts after the draft as well.

Iowa Quarterback C.J. Beathard was taken in the third round by the San Francisco 49ers.  Iowa Defensive Tackle Jaleel Johnson was taken in the fourth round by the Minnesota Vikings. Two former Hawkeyes were selected in the 5th Round: Tight End George Kittle by the San Francisco 49ers and Cornerback Desmond King by the Los Angeles Chargers.

Drake Tight End Eric Saubert was taken in the 5th round by the Atlanta Falcons. Saubert is the first Drake player taken in the draft since 1983.

4 other former Iowa Hawkeyes signed free agent contracts. Offensive Lineman Cole Croston and Running Back LeShun Daniels with the New England Patriots. Wide Receiver Riley McCarron with the Houston Texans. Cornerback Greg Mabin with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

3 former Iowa State Cyclones have inked free agent deals. Cornerback Jomal Wiltz with the Philadelphia Eagles, Defensive End Jhaustin Thomas with the Indianapolis Colts, and Cornerback Nigel Tribune with the New York Giants.

Former Creston Orient-Macksburg Panther and Northwest Missouri State Bearcat Collin Bevins signed a deal with the Arizona Cardinals. Bevins played Defensive Tackle for the Bearcats and won three D-II National Championships.

Former Northern Iowa Panther Defensive End Karter Schult signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Browns.
