AMES, Iowa – Iowa State junior Monté Morris has been named one of the Final 5 candidates for the Bob Cousy Award, presented annually to the nation’s top point guard by the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Entering this week’s Big 12 Championship, Morris is averaging 14.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and a league-leading 7.1 assists, one of just five players to be above 14 points, four rebounds and seven assists this season. He ranks among the nation’s top-10 in assists per game and assist-to-turnover ratio (4.1).

The Flint, Michigan, native, is the Big 12’s active leader in career assists (529) and steals (164).

The winner of this award will be determined by a combination of fan votes and input from the Basketball Hall of Fame’s selection committee.
