(Atlantic, IA) – The Atlantic Fire Dept. and Cass EMS dispatched to a structure fire at 5 Cedar Street a little after 5-a.m. today (Friday). Atlantic Fire Chief Tom Cappel said the building was an old house between 5 Cedar and 9 Cedar, that had been turned into a garage.

Cappel says no one was injured. Crews found a lot of smoke at the scene, which lingered in the area for some time.

The shed was a total loss. No injuries were reported, but two women were evacuated from their nearby homes.

Cappel extended his thanks for support at the scene from the Atlantic Police Department, Cass EMS and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
