Atlantic, IA – The Healthy Cass County Coalition will host a community meeting on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the Cass County Community Center to preview and discuss the newly developed Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) for 2026–2028.
This meeting will serve as the first public release of the completed Community Health Improvement Plan to Healthy Cass attendees. Throughout the planning process, the Healthy Cass coalition participated in stakeholder feedback sessions and reviewed community input alongside local and state community health assessment data. That information has now been compiled and analyzed into a clear, actionable three-year plan designed to inspire local organizations and partners to take action in key focus areas, including mental health, cancer prevention, and healthy eating and active living initiatives.
Throughout 2025, Cass Health Department of Public Health & Community Wellness gathered input from residents across the county to better understand what individuals and families would like to see improved to strengthen the overall health and well-being of Cass County. The feedback, combined with federal, state and local health data, was used to develop the 2026-2028 Community Health Improvement Plan.
The Community Health Improvement Plan outlines key priority areas, goals, and strategies that will guide local efforts to improve physical health, mental well-being, access to resources, and overall quality of life for Cass County residents from 2026 through 2028.
Community members, organizations, schools, businesses, and local leaders are encouraged to attend to:
  • Learn about the health priorities identified by Cass County residents
  • Review the goals and strategies outlined in the new plan
  • Explore ways their organization, business, or family can support and use pieces of the plan in everyday work and life
  • Connect with partners working to improve community health
The meeting is open to the public, and lunch-hour attendance is welcome.
Community members are encouraged to attend and share their perspectives. Attendees are also welcome to extend this invitation to others who promote, produce, or sell locally sourced food, as food access and nutrition play an important role in cancer prevention and overall health.
