SYLVAN ALFRED KENKEL, 86, of Panama, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan. A Mass of Christian Burial for SYLVAN KENKEL will be held 10:30-a.m. Wed., Dec. 31st, 2025, at St. Mary of the Assumption, in Panama (IA). Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

A Rosary will be held at St. Mary’s Parish Center on Tuesday, Dec. 30th, beginning at 4:30-p.m., with visitation to follow, with no real set beginning and ending times.

Burial is in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Panama.

His wife – Joyce Kenkel, of Panama.

His children: Jennifer (Richard) Wolf, of Omaha, NE; Laura (Dan) Wingert, of Panama, IA; Jeffrey (Tonya) Kenkel, of Belleville, WI; and Terry (Karen) Kenkel, of Panama, IA.

His siblings: Fr. Leonard Kenkel, of Harlan; Sylvia Kenkel OSB, of Atchison, KS; Damian Kenkel, David Kenkel, and Eugene (Patricia) Kenkel, all of Panama.

13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; ans his sister-in-law Patricia Kenkel of Burr Ridge, IL.
