UNI women’s coach Tanya Warren on foul trouble for Panther leading scorer Ryley Goebel
December 17th, 2025 by Ric Hanson
Northern Iowa women’s basketball coach Tanya Warren says limiting foul trouble for leading scorer Ryley Goebel will be a key as the Panthers approach a return to Missouri Valley Conference play. Goebel averages nearly 11 points per game but foul troubled plagued her last week in losses to South Dakota State and Iowa State. She only played 19 minutes in the loss to the 10th ranked Cyclones.
Goebel is second on the team in rebounding and also leads in blocked shots. Warren says she needs to adjust to way games are called and avoid unnecessary fouls.
The Panthers are 4-6 and close non-conference play on Sunday with a visit to St. Thomas of Minnesota.
