Atlantic School Board approves 2026 Trojan Baseball trip to Busch Stadium

(Atlantic, Iowa) – Members of the Atlantic School Board, during their meeting Wednesday evening, approved on out-of-state trip for the Trojan Baseball Team to Busch Stadium, in St. Louis. The team is expected to travel to the storied stadium June 28th to watch the afternoon game pitting the RedBirds against the Miami Marlins. Afterward, the Trojans will take on Clarinda in a rare opportunity to play at a Major League venue. Atlantic Athletic Director Andy Mitchell said the ball started rolling for the chance to play at Busch Stadium a couple of months ago.
Mitchell said the team was selected by the Cardinals organization to watch the game and participate in the local varsity match-up afterward.
Both the Atlantic and Clarinda School Districts will be responsible for selling 700 tickets each, at $27 apiece. That price includes a ticket to the Major League Game, a hot dog and drink, as well as a ticket to the high school game. The districts would be responsible for making-up the difference for any tickets that don’t sell.
It’s hoped local businesses will be interested in sponsoring the trip. Andy Mitchell said KJAN General Manager Jim Field will reach out to the Cardinals in January, to help coordinate the details. KJAN -as you may know – carries St. Louis Cardinals baseball games as part of the Cardinal’s Radio Network.
Mitchell said the kids are absolutely thrilled at the prospect of seeing the game and playing at Busch Stadium.
