No. 6 Iowa State wrestling earns rare victory over Iowa

The Iowa State wrestling team finally broke through in the Cy-Hawk series. The sixth ranked Cyclones beat number three Iowa 20-14, Sunday, in Ames. It was their first dual win in the series since 2004 and snapped Iowa’s win streak at 20.
That’s Iowa State coach Kevin Dresser, who says it is a big step for the program.
It was another red flag for an Iowa program that continues to tumble out of national title contention.
That’s Hawkeye coach Tom Brands. Third ranked Drake Ayala at 133 pounds and second rated Patrick Kennedy 174 pounds were both upset victims.
