November 6th, 2025 by Christian Adams

After a two-year hiatus, the West Sioux Falcons are back in the quarterfinal and will be looking to punch their ticket to the dome when the take ACGC Friday night. During their long run of success in 1A, the Falcons are 4-1 in the last five quarterfinal appearances. Their only loss coming in 2020 to OABCIG. Head coach Ryan Schwiesow said he and the team are excited to be back with a opportunity to get back to the semis.

The Falcons have looked strong in their path to the quarterfinal. In round one they took down IKM-Manning 45-27. Despite finishing second in their district, the hosted Sibley-Ocheyedan and look good again allowing 273 yards of offense and just 14 points in a 31-14 win. Schwiesow has like the process and believes his team is playing well heading into this quarterfinal.

Every team from year to year is different. Regardless of how many names are the same, new leaders, new faces, and many other things make a group differ from the last. Schwiesow appreciates how close this group has become, especially in their goal to get back to where they have been.

On the field their offense is led by senior dual threat quarterback Blake Wiggins. throwing 22 touchdowns, he’s eclipsed 1,600 yards of passing while also running for over 500 yards and 13 scores. Although coming off of an injury that kept him sidelined last year, he hasn’t lost a step and Schwiesow says his experience and football IQ makes him a special player.

Expect to see balance from West Sioux, because standing next to Wiggins is a talented running back in Braylon Lopez. He’s amassed 1,167 yards and 6 touchdowns. He is also the team’s leading receiver with 615 yards through the air. His speed is a major factor and Schwiesow will look to get him the ball.

The Falcons understand the challenge they have ahead. The Chargers are not only excellent on the ground but have a stellar defense and Schwiesow has been impressed with their toughness and talent.

He also knows that it will take a full team effort, especially from his secondary that has made a name off of intercepting the football.

You can catch all the action on KJAN with coverage beginning at 6 pm with kickoff from Guthrie Center scheduled for 7 pm.
