AMES, Iowa — Several members of the top-ranked Iowa State University men’s cross country team have been suspended.

A spokesperson from ISU athletics said that a few members of the team were suspended for violating team rules. No specific information about what rules were violated or who was suspended has been released.

According to a news release, the cross country team finished 27th at the 2025 Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Friday, October 17 after running without its top five runners — Joash Ruto, Sanele Masondo, Robin Kwemoi Bera, Rodgers Kiplimo, and Meshack Kimutai — from the Gans Creek Classic. The standout runner that helped ISU during the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational was Seth Clevenger with a 19th-place finish.

The cross country team competes next for the Big 12 title at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kansas on Friday, October 31.
