Hawkeyes Conclude Cyclone Invitational

AMES, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s tennis team wrapped up competition at the Cyclone Invitational on Sunday, facing opponents from Minnesota.
Sophomore Sally Xu and freshman Eline Bex teamed up for an 8-4 victory over Minnesota’s Jesselle Ante and Sofia Pinto. The duo went undefeated in doubles throughout the weekend, earning four wins.
In singles play, Xu fell to Ante, 6-4, 6-1, while Bex dropped a close match to Pinto, 7-5, 6-4.
The Hawkeyes will return to action at the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor from October 10-12.
“It was a great experience for Sally and Eline to get some quality matches over the weeekend,” said Iowa assistant coach Elise van Heuvelen Treadwell. “They had some quality wins in doubles and learned a lot from each match. We’re excited to get back to work in Iowa City and get ready for Ann Arbor.”
