(Atlantic, Iowa) – In an update to our earlier post, Atlantic Police Chief Devin Hogue, this (Sunday) morning, said that at around 11:57-p.m., Saturday, the Atlantic Police Department responded to a single vehicle roll-over accident at the intersection of 6th & Chestnut Street.

Officers responding to the area made contact with Juan R Hernandez-Brito of Atlantic, who was identified as the driver of the vehicle. An investigation into the accident showed that the driver over-corrected to avoid another vehicle and struck a large rock by the intersection, causing the vehicle to roll. The investigation resulted in Mr. Hernandez-Brito being charged with Iowa Code 321J.2 (OWI 1st offense.)

The Atlantic Police Department was assisted at the scene by Atlantic Fire & Rescue and Cass EMS.
