Iowa Completes Boilermaker Classic

West Lafayette, Ind. – The University of Iowa women’s golf team concluded play at its fall opener, the Boilermaker Classic, on Tuesday at the Kampen-Cosler Course. The Hawkeyes finished 7th overall in a highly competitive field with a total score of 893 (298-303-292).
The team completed the second day by finishing the final 18 holes. Iowa shaved 11 shots off its score from round two to round three, carding a 303 before firing a 292 over the final 18 holes.
Junior Ximena Benites paced the team, tying for 18th place with a 221 (69-78-74) total. The Trujillo, Peru native carded her best round of the week in round one, tying her career low with a three-under-par 69, thanks to six birdies and ten pars.
Benites finished as the top Hawkeye on the leaderboard through 54 holes.
Freshman Sunny Wang tied for 25th during her Hawkeye debut with a 224 (78-75-71). The Beijing, China native recorded four birdies during her third round, along with 11 pars.
Senior Shannyn Vogler led the team in round three, firing a one-under-par 71. Vogler registered two birdies and 15 pars, finishing with a 222 (75-76-71).
No. 16 Ole Miss won the tournament with a team score of 862.
