No. 10 Hawkeyes Shutout Saint Louis, 3-0

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The No. 10 ranked university of Iowa women’s soccer team defeated Saint Louis, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Iowa Soccer Complex. The Hawkeyes advance to 3-1-1 on the season.
It took no time for Iowa to get on the board with freshman Liana Tarasco netting a goal in just the 4th minute to give the Hawkeyes the lead. Fellow freshman Elle Wildman was credited for the assist. Tarasco is tied for the team lead with two goals on the season while Wildman’s two assists on the year are the second most on the team.
Graduate student Kenzie Roling added to Iowa’s lead in the 33rd minute off of the assist from graduate student Kelli McGroarty. Roling is also tied for the team lead with two goals on the season while McGroarty’s assist was her first point of the 2025 campaign.
At halftime, Iowa led Saint Louis, 2-0.
At the break, the Hawkeyes were outshooting the Billiken, 9-2. Iowa fired four shots on goal in the first half while graduate student Taylor Kane had one save in the first 45 minutes for the Hawkeyes.
Graduate student Eileen Solomon struck quickly in the second half creating a 3-goal advantage for Iowa in the 49th minute. The assist came from Tarasco and junior Sofia Bush. The goal from Solomon marks her first as a Hawkeye and the third of her career. Bush leads the team with three assists while it marked the first assist of Tarasco’s collegiate career.
Iowa would go on to win the match, 3-0.
- Iowa outshot Saint Louis, 16-5. The Hawkeyes fired nine shots on goal to the Billiken’s two.
- With two goals this season, Kenzie Roling has already surpassed her goal total from 2024 (1). Roling is up to 12 career goals.
- Through just five games, Sofia Bush is four assists away from tying the school record for the fifth most assists in a single season.
- Taylor Kane improves to 14-2 in her collegiate career as the starting goalkeeper. The shutout is the third of her career and the second this season.
- 10 different Hawkeyes fired at least one shot. Of the 10, seven put at least one shot on goal.
- The Billikens five shots and two shots on goal both marked season lows.
- 90 Tracker: Millie Greer was the lone Hawkeye to register 90 minutes. 23 Hawkeyes played in the match.
- 2 for the Money: Iowa’s record is 58-3-3 in its last 64 games when scoring two goals or more, which dates back to October of 2017.
The Hawkeyes play host to Iowa State for the first contest in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. (CT) at the Iowa Soccer Complex.
