Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz is curious to see how his team handles a game situation. The Hawkeyes open the season at home Saturday afternoon against the University of Albany.

Season openers always offer a lot of unknowns and this one is no different. Jared Ambrose was elevated to Albany head coach last March and has a roster full of new players.

With so many new players it will force the Hawkeyes to make in-game adjustments.

It will be the first game in a Hawkeye uniform for South Dakota State transfer Mark Gronowski at quarterback. He will try to boost an Iowa pass game that was at the bottom of the Big Ten. Ferentz says a key in the opener is limiting mistakes.

Sophomore Trevor Lauck and junior Jack Dotzler have been competing to start at left tackle and Ferentz says it is likely both will see action.
