(Greenfield, Iowa) – The Adair County Sheriff’s Office reports Stuart Police made two arrests last week. During the early morning hours of Feb. 4th, 46-year-old Timothy Dewayne Martin, of Adair, was arrested in Stuart, for Domestic Abuse Assault – injury or mental illness/1st offense. Martin was arrested after Stuart Police responded to the Casey’s Store in Stuart, after they were called about an assault that had allegedly taken place in the home of Martin and his girlfriend, who was the reporting party. The assault allegedly took place when the victim dropped Martin off at a motel in Stuart. The victim showed visible injuries, but refused medical treatment. When an officer spoke to Martin, he denied any physical contact with the female. Dewayne Martin was released from the Adair County Jail later that same day, on a $1,000 bond.
The Adair County Sheriff’s Office reports also, Stuart Police arrested 20-year-old Joseph Charles Talbot, of Clear Lake (IA), for Driving While Barred. His arrest took place at the Casey’s Store in Stuart, after an officer observed a pickup truck with no tail lights and license plates, traveling south on S. Division Street, in Stuart. Talbot told the officer he had just purchased the vehicle and that it was not road worthy. He advised also, he was going to call a friend to bring a trailer. A routine check of his driver’s license and identification showed he was barred as of January 15th, with multiple withdrawals in effect. Talbot was released a short time later on a $2,000 bond.
