The AHSTW Lady Vikings basketball team were hot right from the start and rode their solid start to a 47-13 win over the Red Oak Tigers. In addition to being deadly from beyond the arc, the Lady Vikes limited the red oak offense at every turn. Led by the long ball, AHSTW never trailed and picked up their sixth win of the season.

It didn’t take long for the Lady Vikes to get going. By the end of the first quarter AHSTW had raced out to a 10-2. By the time the buzzer sounder to end the first half, the Lady Vikes had opened up a 33-point lead. This was in large part due to the three ball. AHSTW drained seven three pointers in the first half. Coming off the bench, Macey Goshorn hit five in the first half. Ava Paulsen and Bella Lamp combined for three as the Lady Vikes reached the half with a 38-5 lead.

One of the of the other stories of the game was AHSTW’s defense. For the entirety of the game, they pressured the Tigers into forcing turnover. The Lady Vikes allowed less than 8 points in every single quarter. Red Oak’s most productive period was the third quarter when Emily Sebeniecher and Keely Jones each knocked down threes.  Although the Lady Vikes offense did slow down, it was not a factor as the defense kept up the pressure. Goshorn’s 15 points led AHSTW while Lamp and Paulsen werent far behind finishing with 10 and 8 points respectively.

The win moved AHSTW to 6-10 on the year. They will return to action Friday when they visit Missouri Valley. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 pm.
