Surrounded by his family, Jarrett Hansen signed his commitment papers to Dordt University for the fall of 2025. After starting the season as a receiver, Hansen ended up playing defense back due to injuries. Not only did he take a liking to it, but he also produced. Hansen accumulated 23.5 tackles and tied for the team lead with 3 interceptions. Now he will be playing defensive back on Saturdays. However, when asked what drew him to Dordt, Hansen said it was about more than athletics.

Hansen was appreciative of what Atlantic has taught and given him throughout his time in high school.

Joining him on stage were his parents Dave and Jean Hansen and his sister Lyndsey Shaw. Jean Hansen commentated on how the proud the family was for all that Jarrett had accomplished.

Much like Hansen’s decision was based on more than football, Dordt defensive backs coach Nathan Kabongo said they felt the same way about Jarrett.

Atlantic head coach Joe Brummer was also proud at what Jarrett had done for the program and stated that he was a key part of the team’s leadership this year.

While training camp for the Defenders starts next august, most freshman commits will report for a week in June. regardless of when it starts, Hansen is excited to get to work.

Hansen will enroll for the Fall of 2025.
