Red Oak wins Hawkeye Ten Girls Tennis Tournament

The Red Oak Tigers took the team title at the Hawkeye Ten Girls Tennis Tournament that finished up on Tuesday. The tournament began in Denison on Monday then moved to Red Oak to finish play Monday Night and Tuesday morning due to rain. The Tigers notched 30 team points to win the title. Shenandoah was the Runner-Up in the team race with 28 points.

In #1 Singles play Sophie Walker of Red Oak was the Champion. She defeated Nichole Gilbert of Shenandoah in the final 6-3, 6-2. 3rd Place went to Brooklyn Taylor of Glenwood who beat Isabel Schwabe of Kuemper Catholic 8-5 in the third place match.

In #2 Singles action Brielle Smith of Glenwood was the winner with a 7-6 (4), 5-7, 1-0 (3) win over Haley Plambeck of Red Oak. Third place in that bracket went to Alexis McGinnis of Shenandoah. She beat Natalie Driver of Lewis Central in the third place match.

The #1 Doubles title was won by Natalie Gilbert and Mariah Munsinger of Shenandoah. They defeated Macy Baker and Rhenn Rolenc of Red Oak 6-4, 6-2 in the final. Third place went to Erin Stanley and Cameron Rounds of Glenwood.

The #2 Doubles title went to Kaylee Philby and Chloe Johnson of Red Oak. They defeated Shenandoah’s Le Yuan Sun and Donivan Kinghorn 6-4, 6-3 in the championship match. Third place went to Lexi Bird and Joslyn Lewis of Glenwood.
