Atlantic has some strong individual showings at State Archery Tournament

The Iowa NASP State Archery Tournament was held this past weekend at the state fairgrounds in Des Moines. There were two divisions contested with a 3D Tournament and a Bullseye Tournament. Atlantic had a high school team competing in both tournaments and a middle school team in the bullseye tournament.

The Atlantic high school team finished 15th out of 17 teams in the 3D tournament with a score of 1599. Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont was the champion with a score of 1712. Individually Lee Houser finished 21st with a score of 279. Zach Colton was 22nd also with a 279. Lia Lillard finished 60th out of 95 girls with a 255.

The Atlantic High School team finished 11th out of 31 teams in the Bullseye tournament with a score of 3286. Lee Houser finished 10th and Cooper Jipsen was 11th after competing in a shoot off for the 9th place spot. Both scored 290 totals. Dustin Dreager finished 20th with a 286. Jasmyne Oasay-Waddel was the top girl finisher for Atlantic at 158th out of 334 with a score of 266. Springville took the team title with a score of 3407.

The Atlantic Middle School team placed 19th out of 30 teams. Halle Copeland finished 2nd out of 350 middle schools girls with a score of 287. She finished 11th out of all 837 girls competing. Carter Smith was the top boys finisher at 19th out of 427 with a score of 278. He was 97th out of all 1.025 boys competing. Mariah Hadley finished 25th on the girls side with a 274 score. Washington Middle School took the title with a 3278 team score.
