The Atlantic Trojans will play host to the Glenwood Rams for a Varsity Basketball Doubleheader tonight and we’ll have coverage on KJAN. The Girls game is set to start at 6:00pm with the Boys to follow around 7:30pm.

The Girls game will feature two teams that have struggled on the young season. The Trojans are 0-5 after a loss on the road at Creston this past Friday. The Trojans haven’t been able to find consistent offensive production, averaging just 47 points per game so far.  Another issue has been turnovers as Atlantic has 95 on the season compared to just 25 assists. Catherine Leonard leads the team in scoring averaging 10 points per game and Baylee Newell has averaged 9.  Glenwood has shared many of the same struggles in their 0-5 start. The Rams are averaging just 36 points per game and have 97 turnovers compared to 34 assists. Nikkie Schuppan leads Glenwood with 9 points per game.

The Boys game is a highly anticipated match-up of highly ranked squads that had three intense games last season. Atlantic comes in ranked 5th in the new Class 3A poll and Glenwood received votes for the top 10. Atlantic is averaging 70 points per game in their 4-0 start. Garrett Franken is averaging 25 points per game while post player Scott Leonard is averaging 15.  Glenwood is off to a 3-1 start and have averaged 63 points per game. The Rams are led by Andrew Blum with 22 points per outing and Nate Mohr with 20.  The teams split in the regular season last year but Glenwood won the rubber match in a District Final after rallying from 20 points down at half to win by 2.

We’ll have coverage of both games tonight on AM1220, FM101.1, online at kjan.com and on the KJAN mobile app. You can also catch live streaming video on KJANTV.  Coverage will begin at about 5:50pm, just prior to the start of the Girls game.
