Authorities: Man who escaped Iowa jail traveling with woman

INDIANOLA, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say an inmate who escaped from the Warren County Jail in Indianola has been seen traveling with a woman being sought by Missouri authorities. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says in a news release that 26-year-old Scott Grimes escaped around 10:20 p.m. Sunday while a jailer was handing out medications to prisoners.

A news release says Grimes and the woman were spotted around 3:45 a.m. Monday. They bought gas at a convenience store in New Virginia and then headed toward Interstate 35. Court records say Grimes was scheduled to begin trial Sept. 15 on a variety of charges, including theft and assault on an officer. The woman is accused of vehicle theft in Missouri.
