DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A 78-year-old Keokuk man has been convicted on four counts of criminal sexual abuse in Illinois. Harlan Mohr was convicted after a week-long trial that began Jan. 11 in McLean County Circuit Court. The state attorney’s office filed charges alleging Mohr molested four victims between 2004 and 2009. The victims were under age 18.

WAVERLY, Iowa (AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Marco Rubio promised to keep “talking about God” as he campaigned across Iowa Monday, reminding influential evangelical voters of his commitment to Christian values just two weeks before the state’s leadoff caucuses. The Florida senator’s GOP rivals have dismissed him as too moderate at times, but on Monday, he spoke of how Christian conservative values would guide his decisions in the White House, if he is elected. The Florida senator, a Catholic, opened up about religion when confronted by an atheist during a town hall-style meeting in Waverly, Iowa.

BOXHOLM, Iowa (AP) — The Boxholm fire chief says a space heater may be the cause of a fire that killed a mother and her three children. Boxholm Fire Chief Dave Huffman said the state fire marshal is investigating the Sunday house fire but a preliminary investigation reveals that a space heater may have been the source of the blaze.

FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) — Fort Dodge firefighters are working to stop a fire across the street from their fire station. Fre crews were called Monday after noon to reports of a fire just north of Central Avenue. The building is reportedly filled with burning tires. There have been no reports of injuries.
