DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Former President Bill Clinton is rallying Iowa Democrats to get out the vote in the state’s competitive U.S. Senate race, calling Democrat Bruce Braley “the only choice” for the future. Clinton appeared yesterday at a downtown Des Moines rally for Braley, who is locked in a tight race against Republican Joni Ernst. Clinton was also scheduled to attend a Braley event in Waterloo later on Saturday.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Des Moines police are investigating the death of a 5-year-old girl. Des Moines television station KCCI reports that officers found the girl dead October 7th inside a downtown apartment littered with illegal drugs. Police are waiting for the toxicology reports to determine the girl’s cause of death.

EVANSDALE, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say an Evansdale man was hit with a stun gun and arrested following a fire at his home. The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that firefighters were called to the house for a fire Thursday night. Authorities say the 33-year-old owner was agitated and couldn’t be calmed at the scene, and police eventually used a stun gun to subdue him. No one was injured in the blaze.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) — Two construction workers are in the hospital after being hurt in a fall from a lift at a Cedar Falls construction site. Cedar Rapids television station KCRG reports that the men fell over 12 feet Friday afternoon inside a building under construction.
