Crawford County race decided by just 1 vote

The final results of the June 3rd Primary in the Crawford County Board of Supervisors race came down to just one vote. The Omaha World-Herald reports a recount has verified Steve Ulmer won the race. Ulmer, of Arion, appeared to have won on election night with a one-vote lead over incumbent Jerry Butler, of Kiron, but two provisional ballots resulted in a tie at 541-votes apiece.

The tie was broken last week by a drawing of lots, as required by state law. Ulmer won, but Butler requested a recount, which determined Butler received one vote fewer than originally recorded, resulting in a 541-540 win for Ulmer.

Ulmer, Kyle Schultz, of Charter Oak, and incumbent Eric Skoog, of Denison, will be on the ballot in November’s General Election, for the three Board of Supervisors seats.
