IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Iowa junior Darius Stokes has been awarded a scholarship by coach Fran McCaffery. Coach Fran McCaffery says that Stokes, who has spent the past three seasons as a walk-on for the Hawkeyes, has earned a scholarship because of his energy, enthusiasm and hard work.

Stokes, a 6-foot-7 forward from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has played in 24 games over the past two seasons. His father, Greg Stokes, was an All-Big Ten player at Iowa in the mid-80s and his sister Kiah plays from Connecticut.

Iowa now has 13 scholarship players on its roster for 2013-14.
