KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs began a three-day mandatory minicamp Tuesday, their last set of offseason workouts before the training camp begins in late July. New coach Andy Reid and quarterback Alex Smith have dominated the headlines, but there also have been a few unique story lines that have been playing out. One of them is former UW-Milwaukee basketball player Demetrius Harris, who is trying to make it as a tight end in the NFL.

Harris hasn’t played football since high school, and was about to sign with an agent and pursue hoops overseas before getting his chance with the Chiefs. He’s been making the most of it, too, earning praise from Reid and several of his teammates during voluntary workouts.
